The Parent-Child Model
The child and parent(s) BOTH engage in the therapeutic process together.
- The parent-child dyad fosters genuine communication and trust so inviting the parent(s) to share in the therapeutic process with their child enhances the process of connection and trust.
- Working through issues together, the parent/child dyad optimize their bond instead of deferring it to the therapist.
- The parent is given the tools to change undesirable behaviors by carrying on the therapeutic interventions at home.
- This model is implemented until age fifteen or so, when individuation becomes the goal.
- Cutting edge parenting techniques are taught, optimizing the parental role in helping the child feel secure and connected.
- Parents find a new sense of balance with direct, practical, and innovative methods for restoring mutual understanding, respect, and connection.
